obviously somethings not right. money does change people, but it doesn't make you act crazy and give your money away.

you all are just talking s**t about him because he doesn't play for your team anymore and went out on a bad note.

Have any have you ever suffered a significant career altering injury and had to go through surgeries and rehab? I have and it's f**king depressing.

and thread title is stupid. None of you ever quit anything like a job or whatever?

My dude. All he had to do was show up to summer meetings for a month last year and he has an additional $25 million in his bank account. He could've just sat in the meetings and dozed off and he would be a lifetime of wealth richer.

I don't care if "something happened" or that he was going through rehab. Burning money like that is flat-out not normal. If it was any of us we would be getting slapped on the face by all of our family and friends, regardless of if we had to be in a wheel chair that same month.

Plenty of players get injured and don't throw money like that away. It's not that hard.

If this is the angle you're going to take, no person can be criticized for anything ever (athlete or otherwise)

No. I wasn't good enough to suffer a significant career altering injury. I was just good enough to practice and play the role of blocking tackle dummy.

None of you ever quit anything like a job or whatever?

Quit with no notice? No. I have turned in my fair share of two to three week resignations and then left jobs for better career options. Does that count?
Not sure if I have disliked a Niner player more than this dooosh! Lol

Thats my point. If he is willing to toss 25m away then did the money really change him? Something is wrong mentally for someone to toss away everything they worked so hard for. This is not normal or logical behavior as you said.

And not everyone deals with situations the same. Aldon Smith was a first ballot hof and now he is dead and we all have no idea how he collapsed. He had substance abuse issues but so did LT and Joe Montana and Brett Favre. They handled it but not everyone can. Injuries took out plenty of players. Andre Luck and our very own Borland quit the game due to injuries. They could have rehabbed and came back but chose to "throw away" millions. Why didn't anyone simply slap them?

Maybe he doesn't have a proper support system like family or friends to "slap sense into him." A lot of times these athletes are surrounded by yes men. Especially in the people around him that don't have money. They don't want to risk getting cut off. And when somebody's exhibiting mental health problems, you don't wanna trigger them.

And that is not a good point because if it were that easy to slap sense into people then why do people with great support systems gamble, drink, commit crimes, molest children or snort their life away. Why don't all the people with mental health isaues or substance abuse issues or other charachter issues get some sense slapped into them? It's not that simple.

As I said, nobody on this forum knows what's happening with him and people are just s**tting on him because they're upset he's not playing for their team. And not everybody cares about money. He already has enough. After you make a couple of million it really doesn't matter

Coming back from injuries and playing a game where 300 pound dudes are trying to kill you is not easy. These guys trash their bodies. Go play tackle football every single week including practices. You will quit before season is over.

This dude was our best wr and took us to a super bowl. I wish him well and hope he gets help before we get another Aldon news article.

You don't need to be an NFL player to suffer a career altering injury. if you tore your ACL you would definitely not be going to work for a while unless its a desk job. Even then, you need to rest.

You don't have to give notice to quit. It's a free country and only corporate cucks think you have to do that. Players get cut all the time with no notice. Where is the sympathy for that? Apparently, it's OK for the billion dollar company to cut players or trade them with no notice but suddenly Aiyuk has to give notice. They would cut him in a heartbeat if his knee doesn't heal.

Young 2 rice - please stop. I know you're not dumb but this post although trying to sound reasonable how you blaming everyone else but the player that is clearly losing his own mind. Specifically the comment is that says have you ever had a massive injury that has altered your season or work, blah blah blah. I just think it's funny that you make that comment because we see it every single day in all of the sports world. Just look at our own team from last year. None of them are losing their minds.

it's still his job. Just like my job is to show up to work each day. If I get sick or if I get hurt, I miss a couple days and then I go back or I stay in touch with my supervisor. It's not very hard. Are you excusing? It is part of what the problem is. 98% of this entire issue is him just not wanting to do anything with the organization hence the newest article saying that he refuses to be reinstated by the 49ers, which is the one thing he's gonna need to do in order to start his career. No one saying he needs to come back. None of us want him back. I would be saying the same thing if I wasn't a 49er fan just like I did about. no who Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver. He's a toddler in a grown man body. Can we please stop excusing his behavior

have we ever quit our job.? Well yeah I think everybody's quit a job. Most of us aren't getting paid millions upon millions of dollars to play a game. We're making way less money under no contract no guarantees that he's getting.

I really don't get the whataboutism here.

Aiyuk is actively mishandling the situation in epic fashion. People are allowed to notice.

You were under an "at-will" contract, I think it is called. Aiyuk is not, he has a legitimate contract that he signed. There are clauses that provide the employer the right to release at their discretion. All is known (or should be) at the time of signing.

Owners pay for performance, why shouldn't they have the capability to release when it doesn't happen? Y'all are too into money-thinking. Take the money out of it, forget the billionaire vs millionaire trap. Try thinking right vs wrong. Aiyuk didn't fulfill all parts, and then quit on his deal.

Also, generally to not give notice when quitting is bad form. Manners really are a dying thing... a shame.

Yep and if Aiyuk had a grievance, then he could bring that to the Players Union and fight it that way. Instead he tried to fight it on Social Media.
I want this to be a real quote so bad
The Niners should, IMO, rid themselves of this bad news before training camp. It's a no-win situation whose controversy could interfere with the team's preparations.

Nah let his career rot on the left squad list. As soon as they give in to his demands that sets the precedent for another player to do it.

How about Kyle Williams?

At least Kyle Williams didn't do it on purpose....at least I don't think he did it on purpose....
